# Introduction

**BI TOOL** refers to the Jaspersoft Studio and the integration of the JasperServer into Illuminate across our Data & Assessment (DnA), Illuminate Student Information (ISI), and Illuminate Special Education (ISE) modules.

**What is BI?**

BI (Business Intelligence) is the process of gathering information about a business or industry matter; a broad range of applications and technologies for gathering, storing, and providing access to data to help make business decisions.

**BI = Data Entry + Reporting + Analysis + Decision Making**
