CrossTab Tutorial

Overview & Examples

A "CrossTab" in Jaspersoft Studio is similar to a Pivot Table in Excel. You need at least three data points to create a CrossTab. One determines the columns in your table; the second determines the rows; the third determines the "measure" (i.e. the data in the table's cells).

Example 1:

This CrossTab contains:

  • 1 column for each grade

  • 1 row for each site

  • 1 cell for every combination of site & grade level, indicating the count of students for each grade level at each site.

  • Total column indicating the total count of students for each site, across all grade levels

  • Total column indicating the total count of students for each grade level, across all sites.

Example 2:

This CrossTab contains:

  • 1 column for Assessment Performance Level

  • 1 row for each site

  • 1 cell for every combination of site & performance level, indicating the count of students at each performance level per site.

  • Total column indicating the total count of students for each site, across all performance levels.

  • Total column indicating the total count of students for each performance level, across sites.
